Time shall tell
Time Shall Tell
We behave like Pharaohs,
Living as if we were demigods
Feeling above everything and everyone.
We place ourselves forever above others,
Worshipping materials, forgetting
The Father of all material things.
Each day passes like an autumn leaf falling from the tree.
We don’t see the danger in time;
We rush, hoping to outrun it,
Only to fall asleep,
Unaware.
So what are we
Wise, or foolish?
I looked at the cardboard shelf
With neatly arranged dishware:
Cups, plates, bowls, trays
Glass, ceramic, wooden, plastic,
Molded metal, even iron.
Each piece is a masterpiece
Beautiful.
Each one with a unique shape, a purpose.
But not all can withstand the turbulence of life.
Some end their purpose early
Doing one thing, then gone.
The glass plate falls
It’s over.
The ceramic plate falls
It’s over.
The wooden plate falls
It survives.
The iron plate falls
It survives too.
Each bears marks,
Each has a story to tell.
Time knows the truth, and time speaks.
We hide from it
But they say;
Time shall tell.
We act,
Then wait for time to reveal.
Each day,
A plate falls from the cupboard,
And we mourn
It served its purpose,
Yet it feels too soon.
Too soon to fall.
But life is time,
And time is life.
Live like birds in the sky,
Forgetting they may be hunted.
Live like ants on the ground,
Unaware they may be stepped on,
Or swept away.
Don’t stop living because of what might happen.
Live
Because time shall tell.
